300-400 HP
 

I have a 96 dodge 2500 that I have put a cold air intake in and 5" exaughst. The rest of the truck is stock, I have the manual transmission. I would like to do some upgrades and need some advise. I would like to get it up to 300-400 HP. Any ideas would be helpful. I would like to do this right so I am not breaking things. Thanks for the help.

start off would be possibly getting a dual disc clutch and start adding more fuel plate,afc,injectors,mabye a 62 or 63mm turbo and then some dvs

Start with GAUGES, if you don't have them already. Boost and EGT are good numbers to know as far as engine longevity and quick diagnosis of potential problems.

Next, strongly consider what you want to accomplish with your desired power numbers. If you just want to play around, then start with the fuel plate and AFC mods, maybe considering a rack plug and some pump timing, just be aware of the limits as far as heat and boost. Definitely look into some 3k or 4k govenor springs...best bang for the buck bar-none! :tu:

However, if you are looking to TOW with the 400hp goal, then you'll want to spec some good injectors and a turbo setup to match. Injectors in the 5x.012 range paired with a 62mm inducer turbo seem like a common combo (which is what I've been running, but I would advise maybe a tighter exducer as my 62/71/14 is pretty laggy), but not necessarily fit for all. I don't think Delivery Valves are really necessary at a sub-400 hp goal, especially with a single turbo, but to each their own.

Towing would also lean me toward a dual disc and input shaft upgrade, but there are some good single disc drop-ins available for just a daily driver.

Thanks for the help, looks like the first thing to do is gauges and clutch. I just want the extra power for towing as I manage a ranch and tow stock trailers often.
