bullet proofing ur head

im confused at the moment cause ive heard o rings are good for up to 80 psi and fire ring are needed after but my buddy is just running a 66 at the moment and he only pushes 60 ish and blew his head gasket at the track is that just horrible installation or is it common around 60 psi with syuds and o rings to do this im about to start running compounds and want the best setup for my truck i know fire rings hold more but they dont like heat cycles im just worried about o ringing it know and as what i should do to it :ouch:

O ring the head and put some good studs in it. Why the head lifts has to due with high cylinder pressures @ low rpms.

Either will work. The machining process is the most important either way. Only noticeable difference is o-rings can still use a stock head gasket, fire rings will require a special one.

But if fire rings are done right can they last a good while

retorques are important. remember that and you'll be good as long as machine work was done properly

studs and o rings will get you a very long way ... been running o rings and studs since 09 in the puller and have yet to blow a gasket. Making sure both surfaces are flat and following the torque spec's is the key
