1995 175 hp question
Marry X-Mas to all !
I just got my over-haul completed and would like some advice as where to go next. My engine is now.020 over, I used Mahle pistons with a larger space from the dome to the first ring land along with a different shaped dish........shallower but wider.......like a marine. I used a Hamilton big stick cam(181/210). I had some ddp stage II injectors so I put them back in..........also I used a .020 thicker head gasket with studs and the head is o-ringed. I splurged on a gorrilla stud girdle and had every thing balanced. I am timed at 17.5* and still have the stock hx35.......it runs good, but HOT! The pump has some131/181 hybrid dv's that Sheid did for mea few years ago. I have a 4gsk and 60lb valve springs. I have been researching turbos like crazy and driving myself crazy trying to make a good choice! I would like to have a nice reliable 550 to 600 hp. I tow very little and when I do it is no more than 8k. It is a 5 speed and I have a decent sb clutch that should be good for a grand of torque? I would love to tap in to the expertise in this group to point me in the right direction. I have tried to search the forums to get me there, but just hav'nt found the right one!............It is just so much info to look through! Thank you in advance for your input |
i love my 62/65 for a dd that tows. but it does lack up top. i would look into a 62-64/71/14 if i didnt use the truck as much as i do.

Any brand preference? I am looking close at the BD super B special............ seems to be popular turbo. I am just waiting to hear if my combo would complement that turbo?
|
you can get a custom turbo build for less than a box turbo. i run a HTT and have no complaints. i ran a super B for a good time and noticed more than stock. i think a super B special is a 64/71/14 if i recall correct. it will be relitivly laggy compared to stock but i feel that you will have absolutly zero problems getting it to go. you mentioned nothing about your fuel system. make sure you are up to snuff before you start trying to make a monster.
|
What do you mean "up to snuff"? I have a new factory cummins fuel lift pump. Do I need more?
|
yes you absolutely do. you need an electric pump to ever get you over 400 hp. and not ruin you injection pump. a factory lift pump/fuel system will not support that kind of HP.
|
I better start shopping around................what do you recommend? I'm not to familiar with electric pumps on 12 valves. what kind of $$$ will I have to spend?

PM sent
