2004 3500 sluggish off the line

Hey I have a 2004 3500 that I just had all new injectors, a new lift pump, and a new injection pump put in. Taking off from a dead stop it feels like I have a trailer attached, it takes a lot of power to get it going, it barely black smokes and I have straight 4" exhaust and a bully dog gt tuner, the place I usually take it can't figure out why it doesn't smoke....I have to take it back Thursday for them to try and figure it out, just really needing some advice, have spent over 7 grand in the last two months and now it's starting to get stressful...any ideas would be greatly appreciated

you took your truck to a shop to figure out why it DOESN'T smoke? :argh:

No, I took it and had all the work done and they keep telling me that's it's strange that it doesn't smoke, but I just had all new brakes and rotors done this last time and I thought maybe they were grabbing, but about the smoking it concerns them more than it concerns me

I cycled the key and the transmission fluid pressure low is the only code that came up P0868

Transmission.... how is your fluid in neutral and hot??

HotShot85 07-05-2012 12:51 AM

It wasn't low, I checked it 4 or 5 times

I'd seriously consider looking into the transmission.. It's the 48RE correct?

HotShot85 07-05-2012 10:54 AM

Yes, I took it in this morning for them to look at it, so now I'm just hoping for the best

It could be a miscommunication with your TPS as well, if that's out of whack then theres no way for the engine to tell the transmission exactly what speed/rpms you have... if the Cam positioning sensor is jacked up, same deal... I wouldnt think its a fuel issue since you had the new pumps and injectors... I'm leaning more towards someone didnt adjust the TPS properly to account for the upgraded fuel flow you have.... Transmission issues can pop up over night (it seems) Grab yourself the technical manual, and read through all those areas that I mentioned. Remember, most of these shops SUCK at troubleshooting, and are going to EAT up your money!!!

Now that you said that I will tell you this, I replaced the APPS a few months ago and the truck hasn't been the same since, it seems like I only have about half the pedal that I used to, it wasn't the factory one I put back in it was an aftermarket one, I've spent 7 grand on it in the last two months and now it's just getting irritating
