48RE Shift issues

So at first my 48re was holding first gear, after i replace the gov pressure sensor and solenoid every thing was good for about 4 weeks when it developed a small output shaft leak, the fluid got low but i added it to the middle of the fill zone.

The truck will now hold first for a little bit longer than it should and will not shift into third. If i get on it and get it up too 40 then back off it will shift into 4th. Here is the kicker, when i slow down if i put the truck into Neutral for at least 2 seconds, put it back into drive it will shift all the way through the gears perfectly.

any one have any ideas on this one?

thanks in advance!

Output shaft speed sensor. Pull it and clean the end off to see if that will help. They can get crud on them that interferes with the signal. A replacement is cheap, like $20.

Thank you for the suggestion, i will give it a try tomorrow and report back

ended up replacing the output shaft sensor for good measure, no change in the symptoms. Anything else i should try before i take it to a trans shop? thanks again. --dave

If you are not getting 3rd gear, its possible the doretc cluthc pack is burned up. Thats the way mine acted when it toasted the directs.
