Default Exhaust Routing

I took my tailpipe off last winter, post muffler. While replacing my front axles and greasing driveshaft ujoints, I noticed two things. One, that the pipe came loose from the front of the muffler as well, and two, how much soot was on my drive shaft.

I left everything alone because, frankly I like the way my truck sounds right now and I didn't want to alter tha, but now with the soot buildup, I figure its time to do something. I just don't know what I can do in order to keep the tone I have right now.

I also want to be able to mount a secondary tank on the RH underside, so that means I can run it strait down the bedside.

Any suggestions? I thought about running it down the drive shaft but I figured that might add too much back pressure due to the extra bends. If I went to a 6inch cat back, would that solve the pressure issue that might arise from the two extra bends?
