Trouble Starting - runs fine

I HAVE A 2003 DODGE RAM 3500 SINGLE WHEEL CUMMINS. 199K - THE TRUCK SLOWLY WAS GETTING HARDER AND HARDER TO START, REPLACED THE BATTERYS & STARTER. DIDNT DO A THING, THE TRUCK WILL TURN OVER AND TURN OVER AND NEVER START. SOMETIMES EVERY ONCE AND A WHILE IF I SHUT IT OFF AFTER RUNNING AND START IT QUICK, IT WILL, BUT MOST OF THE TIME IT WILL TURN OVER BUT NOT FIRE. I HAVE TO USE STARTING SPRAY IN ORDER TO START IT , EVERYDAY, EVERYTIME. WHEN THE TRUCK IS IDELING , IT HAS A SMALL FUEL LEAK. WHEN I RAN INJECTOR CLEANER IN THE FUEL, IT STARTED ONCE OR TWICE WITHOUT STARTING SPRAY THEN NOW ITS THE SAME DEAL.

WOULD THIS MEAN THE INJECTORS ARE BAD?

WOULD THE FUEL LEAK WHEN IDELING BE LETTING AIR INTO THE SYSTEM?

TRUCK RUNS & DRIVES FINE , JUST THE STARTING IS THE ISSUE.

ANY IDEA'S OR DIRECTONS ON HOW TO CHECK OR FIX ANY OF THIS, LET ME KNOW. THANKS

More than likley you are looking at injector replacement. Heres what happens... as the injectors age the ball seat inside wears. Eventually the ball erodes (due to high mileage or dirty fuel) and no longer allows the ball seat to seal off-allowing excessive fuel to return out the back of the head. Now- as you crank the engine to start, the cp-3 is sending fuel through the rail and to the injectors. The rail pressure sensor has to see approx. 4000 psi of rail pressure before it will turn the injectors on. So, with worn/eroded ball seats, the injector fuel return rate is too high and does not allow rail pressure to reach 4000 psi during cranking rpm's. When you spray starting fluid into the intake, it speeds up the rpm's which in turn speeds up the cp-3-pumping more fuel and when it reaches 4000 psi, she lights. Unfortunately injector replacement is the only cure. If you want to run a fuel return test to be certain, let me know and I will send you the specs and directions for running the test. Hope this helps.
