Changing the serpentine belt on an '04 help!
 
Hello, so the water pump went on my truck, and as we were trying to lug her home, of course 2 minutes away from home the belt snaps. So today we got the new water pump in, but having trouble getting the new drive/serpentine belt on. While we are trying to get it in front of the fan, there is some line there running in front of the fan blades, preventing us from being able to get the belt around it. Of course every single write up i've been looking at, mentions nothing of this line. Any thoughts or solutions would be appreciated! Thank you

What your running into, is the electrical wire. The connection is on the lower left shroud bracket. Your going to need a small, flat screwdriver to lift the latch to unplug it.

Thanks for the quick reply!! :c: So we got that lifted up but we can't seem to find a way to get the fat part of that wire/plug through that small hole

You may end up having to remove the fan and shroud together. Last time I changed the belt, that's what I did. Gave me a lot more access to the front of the engine.

i just changed the one on my 04.5 dodge on mine the belt doesnt go around the fan but it was a pain to get around the idler pully i had to turn it sideways to get it between it and block i got a diagram off the comp to put my on goodluck

Ok just an update, we got new water pump and now the new belt on and as it turns out didn't have to go through that wire either after looking closely at it! Jumping the truck as we speak, we'll see how it turns out lol! Thanks for the help guys

Well we got everything in as i mentioned and now on the test drive we noticed it was getting hot!! We had it running here for about 5 minutes then went around town to the auto store and to get diesel, didn't shut it off anytime so it must have been running for at least 45 minutes and the more we drove the hotter she'd get of course. Also it kind of seemed at idle the fan was spinning slower than it should be and once it got too hot and the truck was sitting idling it will jump in to high idle mode (RPMs to 1,000) to get the fan going fast to try to cool down.

Could this be something electrical with the fan? The water pump is in good, no leaks anywhere or anything, the belt is good, straight and routed correctly, everything on the truck is working perfect except this. Please any suggestions or comments would be appreciated!

Also now we got it home and cooled down a lil bit we started the truck and its idling normal and fan is normal speed and its ok. So i'm thinking something isn't right with the fan? Like it's not always kicking in or going the right speed/s when needed, etc.

Pull one of the plugs along the top of the head (similar to the one the heater core dumps into)...you have an air bubble, ask me how I know! You probably don't have any heat in the cab either?

It won't pump fluid until you bleed it...

Yes you are absolutely correct! No heat at all, nothing flowing! So i'm not exactly 100% sure where to pull it and how to bleed, please bare with us! Can we just pull the heater hose near the back of the engine? Also, heres a photo of my engine maybe u can point out what and where it needs to be done:

We got the bleeder screw out, now the truck is running and nothing is coming out of that hole at all, we turned the heat on full blast and at first there was no heat now its warming up very slightly

So i think we are finally done! We got the screw out, started adding coolant/antifreeze while it was running and bled it out. We have hot heat again and seems to be running good, just got back from test drive. The trucks usual "sweet" spot has always been 190 ALWAYS even when towing, etc. Now it varies from 190-200/205..could we need to bleed a little more maybe? Or does this seem to be a lil normal
