School me on Turbos !!

~ Looking to be Schooled on Turbos ~

Okay, well I thought I knew a little about turbos. Then, the more I searched and read about them, I found out I didn't know enough. I just ordered 2pc. Exhaust Manifold and was thinking of upgrading my Turbo while in there, but dont know what I have on my STOCK 06 Dodge 3500 Mega 4x4. Lets start...

1) When they say t4 or t3, what does this mean ? Does this mean the ports on where it mounts to the manifold or just simply mount options ?

2) What Turbo (brand) comes stock on a 06 Dodge 3500 Mega ? What (mm) impeller are stock to know what to upgrade ,too ? Any input ?

3) One or Divided ? What does this mean and which should I go with ?

Any help and input is appreciated... :tu:

1) see picture below....

2) Holset HE351CW I believe

3) One big housing vs a divided housing. Divided should spool quicker. Also it is recommended to use a divided manifold with a divided hosing and not to mix and match. (see pic below)

2) The he351cw has a 60mm compressor wheel, if I am not mistaken. How much fuel are you running? Tuning? Injectors? You need to match your turbo to your fueling.

Thanks H.R.D.! That info is what I was looking for. As far as gauges go, the truck has none for Boost, Fuel/Air, ect., but they are on the way. Truck was stock when I bought it used, but after a few Mods, it will be a pretty nice truck. Thanks for your input :tu:

Your he351 measures 60/60/ with a 9cm housing.

CHEMMINS 04-02-2012 01:49 PM

Actual is 60/58/9cm

Either way, we still need to know what he has done/plans to do on fueling to determine what size he needs to upgrade to.
