problem with buddies 03

Here is what happened. We drove 1100 miles to pick up a buddies truck after he had to be airlifted home after medical issues. The truck sat for 2 weeks at the motel. The truck is a 03 crew cab dually automatic with 150K on the ticker and some type of "chip" he says.No gauges or programmer. When we fired it up the first time after getting there,it would hesitate at the 1st to 2nd shift. After warm it didn't hesitate but it didn't like to down shift unless deep into the go pedal then it felt like it dropped 2 gears. While on the road the Lamp out light and dinger would go crazy for several minutes.Flash on and off. Some times it would stop for 20-30 minutes.Seamed like rough roads would make it do it more.Checked all lights and all good.About 500 miles in I took over.Set the cruise and the going down any grade the truck would surge and buck like the cruise was fighting itself.Within 100 miles the check engine light came on and 2 seconds later I got a dead pedal.Engine went to idle and no throttle.I could stomp it to the floor and nothing.Dropped the tranny in Neutral and cruised to the shoulder.Pumped the pedal a couple times and 3rd time it sputtered a little and 4th time I had full pedal. While driving after that, there was a spot(about cruising position) that the engine would act up like it was sputtering and surging(Also the lamp out light never came back)If I got off that spot on the pedal it would run ok.Then 200 or so miles from when I took over I got the dead pedal again when passing a van.5 seconds I got full control back and finished the trip without any problems.I did some googling and found 3 things it could be but figured I would ask here first.Found a factory defect on the main harness plug on the ECM.Seal sucked and would allow moisture in causing corrosion in the pins.Another is the CPS harness chaffs on the AC compressor bracket and the injector harness where it passes though the head spacer.Leaning towards the ECM deal since the other issues

HI,

One more thing, sounds like what I have heard happen when the apps (Throttle pedal sensor) needs to be resset.

GOd bless...
