Priority A Preventive Maintenance

This will be the fuel filter and fuel bowl. If you can get your hands on a Baldwin PF7977, install one. It's 5 micron, yes a tad short of 2, but it's better than the stock filter (10 mic) or a FLEETGUARD FS19856 (7 mic), or the Wix 33585XE (7 mic). Change it every 3,000 miles, not every 5K or 10K. This will make darn sure it's not so full of crap, it escapes past it, sandblasting the injectors. On top of the filter, draining the filter bowl 15 minutes AFTER every fill up will keep water from accumulating and being sent through the injectors.

Alligator performance has an adapter where you can use a CAT screw on filter that's 2 microns and the filters are only 20$

codyawise 06-06-2013 09:01 PM

Is it really necessary to drain the filter bowl every fill up?

dlbraly 08-19-2013 07:33 PM

drain no, but crack the yellow lever for a few seconds, the initial fluid coming out would be any water that has accumulated

Hey whats up if you guys are sticking with your trucks for awhile and are running performance mods be ready to replace the stock lift pump and go with a fass fuel system with the double filter setup water seperator and the fuel filter its the only way to go

I am purchasing the AFE pro guard D2 on Amazon. Glad to get the rating I need, but $24.97 has me looking at alternatives. I like shopping Prime, so are the Fram [CS10145], AC Delco [GF833], or Hastings [FF1260] any good? Baldwin is on there at $14.97 each.
