upgrades for my 2006

So this is my first cummins so i am new to it but i have played around with lots of other trucks. So im looking for where to start on upgrades for it. I drive 60km to work half city and half hwy. Pull a 8000lb boat every couple months. So im not sure what im looking for as an end hp goal but i know for now im shooting for 400 ish. So i have done the basics so far ( afe cold air intake,4 inch tbe straight pipe) and im thinking of going with smarty jr but im unsure. What about the afe bladerunner manifolds? Im looking to make the truck reliable and upgraded right not half ass. Any help would be great.
Thanks

if i was you i would get the regular smarty, and a turbo probably a 64, i tried to tow with my 66 and it was very smokey, or a tst powermax is not bad either especially for towing but that is all you need to be in the mid 400 range

turbo2332 01-30-2012 09:26 AM

do the smarty and see if thats enough or if you want to go with a bigger turbo and injectors. then fuel system upgrades. Smarties make these common rail trucks NASTY!

Corei7 01-30-2012 08:29 PM

How hard r smarty's on the truck?

6spd 02-02-2012 09:20 AM

there not bad on them as long as you dont rag your truck because they will shred transmissions and clutches

Corei7 02-08-2012 01:56 PM

should i get the ssr one?

6spd 02-09-2012 08:58 AM

I think the smarty s06 would be just fine, ssr is more or less for competition vehicles you have to tune alot more, it will make it nasty though

Corei7 02-25-2012 03:45 AM

so i went to buy a smarty at my local performance shop today and the sales guy tried to talk me out of it and into a ppe tuner. Anything good or bad about the ppe? it says to add 215 on race mode.

Smarty s-06 over a PPE any day. Go back there and tell Mr. Salesguy to stick his ppe up his a$$

I don't think I would trust that shop now.

I'm looking into getting a tuner myself to for a stock truck with the exception of exhaust and intake. I don't want to build my trans just yet but can't decide between the Edge with attitude and the touch screen, EFIlive, or the smarty. I want to be able to adjust on the fly and the built in gauges seem nice too. Cost aside what do you guys think?

Sorry for threadjacking but it seemed related to me.

So i got my smarty a couple days ago and love it. Thanks for telling me to get it. For now i am happy with the added power but whats next on the upgrade list? Also is it normal to get 16mpg on average?

Fass 90 or what do you suggest

lexa111 03-07-2012 10:49 PM

I would go with an Airdog myself. But I am not a pro. Wait and see what they say.

Diesel Dawgs Performance 03-07-2012 11:13 PM

FASS Titanium 150

I have a airdog for sale. Please check for sale section for info. No one can beat the price I'm selling it for.

lexa111 03-08-2012 12:10 AM

What are you running now and why? And why the FASS over the AirDog? Just trying to better my knowledge.
