Erratic engine idle

I have a 2006 3500 5.9 cummins. When the engine is cold and engine high idle kicks in it boost the rpm up to 900 and the engine will pulse almost like it does not get enough fuel and the truck will accually shake. If I increase the idle up to 1000 or 1100 with the cruise control the problem stops and the engine runs smooth. I have taken it to have it placed on the computer but seems nobody can find the problem with the fuel system. Any help in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Do you have anything done to the engine sounds like a fuel problem supply pump or injector possibly is the check engine light on

Erratic engine idle

I just had it chipped today with a cold air intake and new 4in exhaust. However the problem has been there for the last 8 months or so. The shop checked it out today and told me that the injectors are fine. My check engine light has never come on.

My 06 does the exact same thing. Bone stock and it's done it since the day I got it. I don't have the high idle enabled on mine, I usually don't let it idle much. It only does it below 36 degrees on the overhead and doesn't seem to be hurting anything. I've never had it looked at because I always thought is was normal. Tap the brake and it idles back down. Fuel filter gets changed every oil change and it does it the same, new filter or not. Let us know if you find out this isn't normal, maybe one of the super mods will chime in with some info.

I am removing the chip and having it put back to stock. I will be taking to my Dodge dealer and have them look at it, I will let you know what the out come is.

On another note, does anyone know what the proper setting should be for Transmittion, Coolant and Engne temps as well as the Pyro temps. I have been trying to find this all over the web but no luck. I need this info to plug into my H&S chip if anyone can help.
