cummins on the highway

Was looking into getting a cummins and never owned one before. Was just wondering how it does on the highway with road noise engine noise and exhaust noise. Also how smooth are they on the highway i would be doing mostly highway driving. also would it be better to have a stick or a auto. I would plan on modding it so. thanks

From the dodges I rode it which were 01 and older there were loud, but any truck that big with a diesel is loud, mines not to bad on the highway it's a ford. It all depends on what you would do with the truck. Just modify it to say you've done it or pulling loads, drag racing on the track? If you get an auto get it built or buy a truck with an already built trans. Or just buy a standard. I'd prefer a standard in a dodge just because there notorious for being weak but that doesn't mean u won't had issues with one, I'm just a ford guy that's wrenched on a few and thsts my experience. Good luck!!

My 06 is fine on the highway, just a little louder than my gas-engine Chevy pickup. I have the SLT Big Horn, so it's very comfortable inside. We are pulling a 27 foot travel trailer. Our Chevy would struggle at times with steep grades in the mountains. The Cummins chugs up any grade in front of it :tu:.
