Just bought an 06

Just bought an 06 and took it in to get my Missouri state safety inspection done. The mechanic noted that he thought the rear main seal may be slightly leaking. Is this something that I can live with, or should I repair it ASAP? Also anyone know a round about figure to have it replaced, I'm no mechanic! Thanks!

It's going to be a major task. All day job and it's gonna be some coin.

Thanks Wild Bill, I will just have them do it!

Hey Bill. I'm assuming this is a 2 peice seal and you are talking about oil pan to crank right? And what about the oil pan gasket. Does that need to be replaced when the pan is dropped? Might be stupid q's but just remembering from building gas jobs. Thanks.

My leaks around the bell housing also. I removed the inspection cover, and didn't see any oil around the converter. So it's either coolant or fuel, cause I'm not using any oil. I never got around to checking bolt torque yet on the back of the pan. But I did on the front, and they were loose. What I thought was a front crank seal turned out to be loose bolts.

Mine seems to have a little oil on the inspection cover, and the small shop where I took it for inspection is who mentioned the rear main seal. It isn't leaking on the driveway or anything, can I just leave it be until it gets worse?

Does oil level seem to stay on the same spot on the stick? If so, I'd let er be until then. I've been going for the last 3 years with mine, oil level stays the same on the stick. :tu:
