48re Bands Adjusted
 

I have close to 48,000 miles on the truck and was wondering if I needed to get the bands adjusted? Does the shifts feel any different after it has been adjusted? I run it pretty hard sometimes playing and was just wondering what yall thought?

really dont need to, ive actually never heard of anyone doing it on a stock trans.......

I have a slight surge when accelerating very easy and I think it is do to the bands needing to be adjusted. The manual says it should be done every 30,000 miles. Might screw up your warenty (if extended) if you don't do it and the tranny fails.

the funny part about the warranty is I asked the dealer to do it and he said they don't have bands anymore! LOL bunch of dumb a$$es

RSWords - yours might be from the APPS. Mine would do slightly weird stuff when barely giving it the throttle. Upon resetting it, works much better. To reset. Disconnect BOTH batteries + (pos) side and turn your key to the ON position. Let sit for 30 minutes at least. Turn key off, connect batteries back up, upon turning the key back to the ON position, slowly take your right foot and press on the throttle to the floor (evenly) and then back to normal position. Now, I'm not sure what slowly is compared to your slowly but that did help my surging when slightly giving it throttle. I think it resets the amount of juice it sends to the tranny pressure sensor when taking off and cruising down the road.

I adjust my tranny bands every 25,000 miles. Does it make any difference, not really sure. I think it shifts better initially but never really notice it getting worse until I do it again the next 25,000 miles. So it must.

It is just a typical adjustment on that particular design, after all the 727Torqueflite required adjustment at the same interval. After all the 48RE is nothing more than the 727Torqueflite that is electronically controlled and with an overdrive added.
