Late MY05 was the culmination of all the best pieces and parts, power and mileage. The 06-07 CAN bus effected, TIPM challenged, bad parts used, and fuel guzzlers are the least attractive. Much better to step back to late 03 early 04 HO than newer than 05 if you want durability and simplicity.

07 with a 5.9 here too and I like it.

Really like my '03 2500 CTD, despite having the waterpump just crap out on me. Truck is straight forward and simple. Fuel mileage at 65-70 is more than acceptable, ride is great as are the interior controls, seats, etc.

To each his own though. This is my first PERSONAL diesel though I drove diesels in the Marine Corps a whole bunch.

Have about 58k on the clock now, so we'll see how it works out over time.

05s have plastic intercooler sides which can and have cracked under stock boost levels. I would invest in an 06 intercooler or an aftermarket. Other then that they are a damn good pickups.:c:

03-04 gets better fuel mileage. Just certain things you have to watch on them.
