Stick shift

My 2006 dodge3500 stick shakes alot while driving wondering if anyone else has had this problem ?

K80 08-18-2011 06:37 AM

Where the shifter necks up to a larger diameter on the shifter is the rubber isolator. It may be worn, or you have something loose.

Red_Rattler 08-18-2011 07:36 AM

Like when you hit a bump? Yea it's normal either way

cfdavis 08-18-2011 08:28 AM

It dnt matter if it's the smoothest road ever just shakes all the time way more than normal

Red_Rattler 08-18-2011 09:43 AM

Well does if feel sloppy or loose?

cfdavis 08-18-2011 11:48 AM

It's not sloppy but it ain't like it was when I bought it new neither

Matt5005 08-19-2011 04:14 AM

mine shakes all the time too, not real bad but it does

K80 08-19-2011 06:36 AM

Pull the boot up, take the shifter out and put the flat end in a vice to see if thats your problem. Its very simple to remove. And you don't have to take the knob off to remove. :c:

cfdavis 08-19-2011 07:03 AM

I'm gona check it when I get off and I'll let y'all kno

steved 08-19-2011 09:42 AM

Is it rhythmic like something inside the trans is moving it, or does it just wiggle around when you hit a bump?

cfdavis 08-19-2011 04:31 PM

It does it all the time but havnt had ne probs wit the tranny no noise or lose of power just movement in the stick while driving

Wlincoln 08-19-2011 04:46 PM

Does your truck "shake" at idle? stock clutch? Miles?

cfdavis 08-19-2011 04:49 PM

It's got 123000 has southbend dd

Wlincoln 08-19-2011 05:14 PM

LOL your just worryin to much I think but you can pull the shifter and do what KXTRAP43 said

cfdavis 08-19-2011 05:18 PM

i pulld it just need to throw it in a vice every other 6spd ive been in they dont hardly move but then again never had probs wit the tranny even wit my edge turned on level 6 so u might be right

K80 08-21-2011 04:50 PM

I just strapped my stock shifter in a vice. It takes roughly 20 pounds to move it and quite a bit of force to "mushroom" the rubber out of the bottom. Remember, its only supposed to dampen the stick.

cfdavis 08-21-2011 05:20 PM

I messd wit it and it dnt take that much force to move it so I think it just might be wore out wat u think?

K80 08-21-2011 06:42 PM

Hard to tell by sending messages or even pics. Thats not something that usually wears out. Especially at that mileage. If you were closer i would slap my shifter in there. Because I'm sure that thing is not the cheapest thing from dodge.

Could be a frozen frunt u-joint are a bad drive shaft U-Joint. How is the frunt end ? how is the tires wearing ?

cfdavis 08-23-2011 03:13 PM

Inside tire is wearn pretty bad thought it was the ball joints again but they were ok I just replaced all the steering linkage to the new kind dodge is using
