Just changed the. Fuel filter and its still doin the same thing
|
How about posting a short video of what it's doing?!

It sounds like you got an injector hanging up...knocking and smoking is a classic sign. A black fuel filter is normal, they just get that way...Baldwin is about the best filtration you can get for an OE replacement (5u IIRC).
I would first try two things...run a heavy dose of Power Service Diesel Kleen through it, I'd probably do a large jug in a tank of fuel. And then try using some 2-cycle oil (search for the kinds on this forum) after the Power Service to see if that helps. You may either have a really dirty injector, or one that is just going to fail...sometimes dosing them real good helps. Keep an eye on your oil level...make sure its not mysteriously gaining oil. ---AutoMerged DoublePost--- One thing that puzzles me is that it only happens between gears...almost like the APPS is doing something weird? |
Thank you steved that really helped me in diagnoising my problem. How big of a jug should i use of power service? how much oil should i use and will that mess up my filter? what is the apps?
|
I would use a 96 oz jug of diesel clean to start...
The oil won't bother filters, but the diesel kleen might loosen a bunch of crud. ---AutoMerged DoublePost--- Oh, APPS is "accelerator pedal position sensor"... |
dam thats alot of power service. how much oil should i use and what kind i cant seem to find it on here
|
Its a lot, but only one tankful...
2-cycle oil is what you are looking for...I don't remember the dosage. There are lots of threads on it... |
ok ill it out hope it works. thank you very much
|
Just the walmart gallon jug is fine for two stroke oil! One ounce per gallon!

i just checked my apps. it has 6 wires goin to it and i found the voltage goin in and the signal wire coming out wat are the other 3 i know one is a ground. the voltage goin in is 4.9 volts and comin out at full throttle is 4.5 volts and at idle its .445 volts does this sound right
|
i put a qt to a tank every once in a while in my 6.7
|
i just checked my apps and i found the power wire, ground, and signal wire. what are the other 3 for? i got 4.9 volts for power and at idle the signal wire is at .445 volts and 4.5 volts at full throttle. does this sound right?
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- could i have a cracked head or blown head gasket or a cracked or burnt valve. god i hope its none of these |
