How often should I change Tranny fluid?

I have an 06 with an ATS tranny, just wondering if anyone knows how often I should change out my fluid and have it serviced. What brand of fluid should I use or does it matter? Thanks!:humm:

Probably tell you any Brand-name ATF+4...I tended to drain and fill mine more than most, just because.

If your pan doesn't have a drain, have one installed...it will make life much easier for future fluid changes (you don't really need to change the filter or adjust the bands every time).

i installed mag tech trans pan has drain plug in it and i think it holds approx extra gallon of fluid

I think mine has a drain plug, I will just have to figure out how much fluid it holds. I think I can call ATS for the capacities.

Drain the TQ too! If it has a drain plug! Most aftermarkets do! With that drained expect to use about 14 to 17 quarts!

Thanks for the advice. Now I gotta get the job done! Another Quick question: What is the Governor Pressure Solenoid? Thanks.

dangerous1965 04-26-2011 03:30 AM

There is a soleniod set on the valve body that controls pressure and shifting they go bad occasionally. If it shifts good leave it alone.

I think how you use your truck makes a big difference on service intervals. If you tow or haul heavy a lot I would service tranny more often than if it's just a daily driver. :c:

Waste of time and money ( you need more than a drain plug to exchange all the fluid in the TC any way)....just change the pan fluid and filter every 20,000 miles. Ask ATS what fluid they use and recommend and use the same.
