some bad turbo surge going into od
only happens sometimes, with medium throttle use. is there any fix? bov? i getting ready to get a thunder 330 and i dont wanna jack it up with all this surge.
btw, finally installing my airdog and 70 hps sticks this weekend. also thinking about staight piping it while im down there.:rocking: |
Try a lower # on the smarty. It's surging on a stock turbo??
|
yea its stock for right now. but i need something to get rid of the surge all together. after i get that thunder 330 ill probably keep the samrty on 7, its stays on 5 now, with my mp8 half way up.

my stock turbo surged all the time going into lock up with a small load on her never really figured out why...
|
yea i was hauling my tractor today. thats when i noticed it was real bad.

Mine does it too going into OD... Usually only in warm up mode, mid-throttle shift into OD. I cringe every time. :scare2:

Maybe try disconnecting your boost fooler. I am pretty sure the smarty has one and maybe something funky is going on electronically between the quadzilla and the smarty...

Its compressor stall, or bark, not surge. Pretty typical with the shift\lock algorithm in the newer trucks. One of the dangers running a lot of fuel thru too small non-optimized turbine housing.
When the rpm's drop on the OD shift\lock the ECU defuels and the exhaust flow won't support the boost level. A good turbo correctly sized should take care of a lot of that problem. If it doesn't, run it up to speed in drive then get out the throttle before shifting to OD. |
