batteries
 

So about 4 months ago i started smelling rotten egg smell coming from the batteries, so checked the voltage coming from my alt on both batteries, check at 14.5 to 14.8, so cleaned the cables and put in 2 new batteries, all was good until yesterday, getting the smell again and the passenger side battery looks like it leaked a little acid on the top of it, was wondering if anyone else has had this problem? or any idea's on how to fix the problem?

sounds like you might have a voltage regulator problem over charging your batteries and i think the regulator is built into the alt but dont quote me on that

I would check all of your cables to see if they are making a good connection and check all of your grounds. Good luck

Thanks, im working the next couple days, ill try cleaning my grounds and make sure they are good, i think the pcm is the voltage regulator, but not sure

the rotten egg smell is common on overheated batts. a couple of weeks ago my batt on the passenger side boiled over basically exploded. replaced it but got a little more boilover. voltage seemed normal on both batts. connections seemed clean. i asked for advice on a diff forum and everyone said the cables or terminal ends were dirty. the cross over cable seems to be really vulnerable to causing problems. I really cleaned it all beyond what most of us see as clean. well, no more problems. I cant duplicate the overheating. hope this helps.
