48RE Tranny question??

I currently have a 2005 Dodge 2500, aotomatic. i am not used to Dodge's auto's, as I have only owned manuals. At about what speed should the tranny kick into neutral?:humm: Heres the scenerio: Driving down the road 60 MPH, and I let off of the throttle coming to a stop sign. I notice that at about 45 MPH, the RPM's drop down to standard idle RPM (about 750), and I coast down to a stop. Is this typicl of the 48RE tranny? Or is there something going out? Just a little more info, the truck has 77000 miles and is completly stock.

Thanks for the information in advance
Jason:humm:

That's perfectly normal. Mine does the same thing. Stays in lock up til I slow down to 45 or 50. In tow/haul it stays locked in every gear but 1st. I feel your pain! Took me a while to get used to driving an auto too :s: Oh, and with a smarty on the way you better be ready to drop some $ in that auto too... :w2:

It doesn't really kicj into neutral on decel, it just feels like it becuase the sprag clutch has released. If you apply power it hooks back up.

Well, I'm not going to go past SW#3. as long as I'm not pulling a weight sled, I hope to be O.K. Its used for a daily driver most of the time. Glad to hear its normal. I talked to Craig at Goerend Transmission, for about an hour on the phone and told him everything it was doing, and he said that it sounds perfectly normal as well.:tu:
