what do u think

does any one out there think i should put some kind of oil in my diesel fuel. my truck is a 2003 dodge 2500.

I read an article in diesel power or diesel performance, or some such mag that supported the use of 2cycle engine oil as an additive, since it does improve the lubricity of the fuel, and helps prolong the life of fuel pumps, and raises the c-tain ratting of the fuel just like alot of the regular fuel additives but its muchy cheeper.

That said check this article

Re: what do u think

I ran 2 Cycle oil in both my 01 Cummins Trucks. I would also recommend running a 2 micro fuel filter in your Common Rail.

I am anti-oil additive. A good diesel fuel additive is the way to go in my opinion. I run Stanadyne Performance (Blue label) in my truck, and nothing else.

One ounce per gallon you can get it at walmart 2 stroke oil works! also advice you put the 2 micron pre CP3!

After reading this article it looks like the 2 stroke oil isn't the way to go.

Bio-diesel seems like a good replacement of lubricity for the warmer months.

i run 2 cycle and bio diesel. also i dont like to fill up anywhere that dont have a external filter on there pumps. i agree with luke on the 2 micron filter. :tu:

The only additive I've ever ran is Stanadyne also. I've never believed in any additives 'til I tried that. A few months ago, every time I'd start it up, I'd get a bunch of white smoke, rough idling, and it would miss bad! I began looking at injectors but couldn't afford it. Someone told me to try Stanadyne and after about a tank with it, I've never had the problems above since. Only used one bottle and stopped...still going good. :)

It's the best stuff to use, IMO. When I can be handed a pamphlet from an independent tester and Stanadyne is on top, it's a darn good sign. Plus using it and seeing the results has me sold! Also, the diesel shop that carries it in town has been in business for 30+ years, and services all of our fuel system needs at work. :tu:
