Amsoil Oil

Is it really worth paying the high price for their oil, or should I just stuck to the dealer oil for $75. Oil and filter.

I live in GA. Should I run 15w-40 or 5w-40?

Amsoil is #1..... Royal Purple is also very good oil

:U:

I can say that using it in differentials is a no brainier I dont want to change it no more often then i have to ,

I dont use it for motor oil as i cant go past 5000 miles on any oil before i feel like im neglecting my Cummins , Thats just me tho :)

If your interested In getting some Heath is the Man

If you like paying $75 every 5K then knock yourself out. I prefer paying $85 every 22K. My oil analysis keeps my peace of mind. Right at 22K is when they say I'm getting close to needing an oil change so I can actually go to about 25K. Chad, you would have a heart attack at my buddies 60K oil changes. He uses the same Amsoil I do and has the by-pass system. His analysis didnt recommend a change for 60K. :f:

I dont pay $75 per oil change

IIRC $30 for oil $5 for filter

I use Mobil Delvac Super 3000

See there, your still paying more than me. When I get my by-pass system installed it will pay for even MORE oil changes. :) Get some Amsoil or Royal Purple in that thing asap and start doing an analysis.

I run AMSOIL in my truck, and according to them can go one year or 12k between changes. If I do oil analysis I can go even more. Some guys I have heard (and this is supported by AMSOIL) of going 22-24 by just changing the filter at 12k. Either way you make out ahead. I haven't found anyone to do oil analysis yet here, so I am on the 12K schedule.

Rotella or Delo every 7500 for me for the past 135K. In N.GA 15w40 works great.
Now the diff is another story. It get's changed every 50K and is Mobil 1.
Nothing against the Amsoil guys, I've just always looked at it and the marketing more like Amway than Amsoil.

The benefits of synthetics in general are well documented, that's why everyone makes their own. Just a matter of whether it's worth it to you??
As mentioned, if planning on changing every 5000 miles anyway, chances are you won't come out ahead unless you keep the truck a long while and it prevents problems down the road. I would do it, but that's me:)
You should also find out how much it would actually cost you and then compare:dm:
Oh ya, I would go with the 15W-40.

I haven't switched to Amsoil yet but don't they charge for the analysis? If they do how much is it and how often do you have to do it? Has anyone one seen analysis done on the competitors too? Thanks.

Another quick question if I'm not exceeding my limit for today. Does any one have the full list of contents/results that they are checking for. We do oil analysis at work for aircraft so just curious if we have the capability. Our jet engines are obviously made of different materials but we may be able to change the test parameters. Thanks again.
