Lots of Wind noise in Cab

Goin down the highway when i hit 65+ i start to hear the wind like my window is down right beside me and on the passenger side right beside the mirror, ive looked at the door seals but can't seem to find any tears or holes or anything, anyone have any suggestions? it's driving me nuts.

But on the drivers side the noise is coming from the window right beside me, not up near the mirror like the passenger. Its kind of hard to explain, but if anyone needs more info please ask, this is a problem i would like solved.:scare2:

i'll try to refrain from the dodge comments but i'd say take an air compressor and blow it in those areas with your hand or a piece of paper on the other side and hopefully this will lead you to exactly where it is

It maybe caused by sagging doors. Try the link below:

http://www.ehow.com/how_4883979_fix-...-car-door.html

If not that then add some extra weather stripping to the door frame.

prison 12-19-2010 02:33 AM

my doors sagged. i loosened the bolts, had a buddy lift the door and tightened the bolts. worked on mine but thats a ford and after 25 years and a twisted cab. how do you explain doors sagging after 3?

Chitty design would be my guess.

I agree they may not be the best built trucks but the motor surpasses any small problems they may have. IMO :c:

prison 12-19-2010 03:09 AM

ya but you dont just buy a motor ya buy a whole truck lol and i'd be goin at my doors with a bat if they were like that

H.R.D 12-19-2010 03:24 AM

Well I love my dodge and even love my cummins more. So don't know what to tell you.

Ford has it's own problems the 6.0, 6.4, and the 6.7. I mean its a hell of alot cheaper to work on a door then to replace a chitty designed engine.

Youngblood 12-19-2010 03:49 AM

Well everyone has thier opinion, me personally, i hate the looks of ford's, ugly trucks if you ask me, but this thread is not a discussion on how trucks are built or what problems they may have.

I'm simply lookin for a solution to my problem.

Jazz 12-19-2010 05:11 AM

Well mine was doing the same thing and all my weather stripping was in place and looked great. I asked a buddy of mine about it who is in the auto body business and he said sure I'll take a look. I stop by the next day and he came out open the door looked at it, rolled down the window put his knee against the arm rest of the door and gave a couple good tugs on upper corner of the door and said there that should do it. Haven't had a problem since. And I can't tell he even did anything:tu:

prison 12-19-2010 05:13 AM

i'd loosen lift and tighten. i don't like the look of some of the ford's either. i drive an 85. i dont drive a brand new truck. the only trucks i'd drive would be 7.3's and maybe try a 6.4 but this is off subject so lets get back to helping

sabortooth 12-19-2010 07:03 PM

I've noticed the same thing lately.

tiremann9669 12-19-2010 07:36 PM

Did someone change mirrors possibly and leave out the triangular piece of insulation that goes behind the mirror. Not sure if that would do it but worth checkin out.:c:

I had door out of alignment too. It was a quick fix to a very annoying problem. I delt with it for quite a while but when snow start falling it, that was it.

Had my mechanic go over the truck today, he has been doing auto body since he was 16 and i can't tell you how old he is now (old enough to be my dad and I'm 20), but anyways, he spent about fifteen minutes looking at the door and noticed the front fender was not adjusted in far enough, i couldn't tell but he spotted it, then noticed the fender was aftermarket and same with the door, then he noticed, my whole entire passenger side of my truck had been repainted. Meaning it was wrecked. Now i was not able to tell any of this, it is amazing how good someone can get after doing something their entire life, but anyways, thursday hes gonna pull my door off, then adjust the fender in to where its supposed to be, then put my door back on and adjust it correctly and problem should be fixed, So that should answer your question prison, and proves this isn't a dodge problem.

prison 12-20-2010 12:52 AM

well if others have had it it is. it shouldn't happen but it does. find out why it was wrecked and i'll find a reason to blame dodge just to mess with ya. i dont like any of the new trucks man. i dont just rag on dodge. i drive a ford because i like them the best but when i see there flaws i will point them out. 60 years ago it was about putting out a quality product. now its about the best looking product on the showroom and on paper. :c:

dalton06 12-21-2010 04:05 PM

I lined the edge of my doors with extra weather stripping but didn't get much help. I was thinking it was coming by the glass. Idk though.

gneal02 12-23-2010 04:29 PM

I've got the same problem with both front doors. It usually only does it when there is a cross wind or I'm doing more than 75 mph.

THE REDDOG 12-23-2010 05:55 PM

Yo Youngblood what year is your truck.I got 2004 crew 2500 Dodge.Hear the same thing am going to take a closer look thinking the foam is losing its strength and ability to seal will let you know what I find.
Happy Holidays
:humm:

Youngblood 12-23-2010 08:36 PM

Mine is a 2007, just had it in the body shop today and had it looked over again, the guy found that it was hit hard on that side and the A-Pillar flexs when we open and close the door, so something is screwed up in there. I gotta take it and leave it next week for a few days and the shop is gonna tear it down and figure out what wasn't put together correctly when the previous owner fixed it. Hopefully they can fix it cause so far this is looking to be a more serious problem than a sagging door.

THE REDDOG 01-27-2011 07:30 PM

The seals around doors and atop the doors front to back go flat after time.
But I came up with a cheep fix.
The seals are hallow so first remove the seals from the truck 2 or 4 lay them out strait on the floor you will need to put a weight on one end and stretch out, run a fish tape all the way though and out the end.
O you will need to go to hardware store and get 1 package of 3/8" foam snake per door and 1 package of 1/2" for the top seals. Tops need not be removed.connect snake to fish tape and you will need a little lubrication pam cooking spray or something similar but nothing with petroleum base.
tie wire can be used if you do not have fish tape just loop the end back on itself as not to poke a hole.
GOOD LUCK :tu::c:

doors

I wouldn't spend much time and money on body work to fix your leaky door problem. Just about every newer style Dodge does the same thing. As someone said earlier, it's mostly in a cross wind. The reason? Look at the top edge of the doors, how they stick up over a quarter inch above the cab. The wind hits that edge and flexes the door enough to leak air. And as someone else said earlier, if you tweak the top of the door in "just a little" it will solve the problem.
I've had two newer Dodges that have done the same thing, and ridden in others that also do it. Probably has nothing to do with it being previously wrecked. As a Dodge fan, I have to admit, it is just a bad design!

vrodrex 01-30-2011 06:54 AM

My '04 leaks air around the driver's window occasionally. I can roll it down an inch or two and then back up, and it seems to fix it.
