Installing cab lights on a 2500?
Has anyone done this? Wondering if you get templets to drill your roof and would I have to make my own wiring harness for it or should the light kit include it. Looking at the Recon smoked set if anyone has an experience with them. Thanks

There is a 2500 TRX4, local in the area that has the smoked cab lights. They sure look fine. I would call the dodge parts dept, and have thought of doing just that.

You don't really need a harness so to speak. All you will need as far as wiring goes will be a wire coming from your light switch for your parking lights, and perhaps a ground. I installed recon lights for a buddy of mine on his 98 and the fit was terrible. I can't speak for the quality lately though.

I had the factory cab lights installed on my truck as part of the deal when I bought it. From what I recall they came with a template and harness that was plug and play.

I have a set waiting to go on mine when i get home they are the factory orange set but they did come with a template.

you should have holes in the roof under skin for just that. i drilled the holes in the middle of the pre existing underskin spots instead of templates.

A buddy of mine bought the Recons. I covered the front half of his cab in 2" wide blue painters tape. Then used recons specs to draw where i should drill with a sharpie. They came with a harness that we connected behind the right A-Pillar. There was already a white two prong connector there that is tied into the parking lights. That was on an 04.5 quad cab :c:

Can a dealership install these? and Do they seal at all to prevent possible rust forming around the holes?
|
My dealership put the factory ones on, i think the guy said 350 with parts and labour.

Ive done it. Its a pain in the ass
