48RE issues

so i was throwing codes and was told it was the throttle valve actuator. so i replaced it and all was fine for a day. then it went back to taking off slow and having trouble shifting up. occasionally i will be sitting still and it will jolt forwards. still throwing the same codes. anybody have any clue what will fix it.

Uhh what codes... I've fried about everything possible in a 48 don't think I've ever had codes tho... :humm:

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Also be a lil more detailed in what its doin... like the shifting up, does it just shift hard or rev higher tha. Normal before shifting? The jolting forward... does it feel as if the converter is trying to lock up? Taking off slow... does it seem to be slipping... does it do that through every gear till lock up or a certain one? How many miles on the converter? Is it the original factory converter? Have you changed the fluid and filter recently... was there a lot of crap in the pan?

Redneck GI JOE 11-29-2010 05:21 PM

the codes are P1751(Trans Throttle Valve Postition Minimum Range Performance) and P1753 (Trans Throttle Valve Performance). when taking off it revs high then normal then shifts. it takes off slow just in first gear feels like theres hardly any power. i just turned 101,000. its all stock. flushed trans, new filter, no more then the normal crap in the pan. the jolt will learch the truck forward. almost feels like ive been hit from behind:argh:

Change the soleniods!

Redneck GI JOE 12-01-2010 04:04 PM

i really dont know anything much about transmissions, so which ones do i need. sorry if i sound ignorant.

Steelslinger 12-01-2010 05:41 PM

He's talking the governor pressure sensor/transducer (also seen listed as trans speed sensor) and the governor pressure solenoid. Just have to drop the pan and they are right next to the filter. Replace both.

awesome thanks guys

And I know it sounds crazy but unhook and clean your battery cables. Leave key in the on position while unhooked to drain down the capacitors. It really works sometimes on getting the computer to read the selenoids again. And btw - whilst changing the selenoids - adjust the bands (easy - remember inch lbs not ft pounds!) and change the filter and fluid. You should be good to go then.

what about the overdrive and lock up solenoid? or will the other 2 do

Redneck GI JOE 01-07-2011 02:38 PM

thanks everyone for the info. i changed the solenoid and the sensor last night and now it was great.
