I am still trying to figure out what an NOX filter is?????:humm:
Never seen or heard of such a critter on a Dodge, now them other guys have all kinds of weird gadgets but not a Cummins. LOL! |
They're on the 07.5-Cur Ram diesels. They got a cat, then the NOx filter, then the DPF. The Nox filter breaks down what the cat didn't.

07.5-Cur Ram Trucks (6.7l) have the DPF, NOx filter, and a cat.

The CAT on a 5.9 is particulate trap, thats all. Incorrect info on the 6.7's. Again, NOX can NOT be filtered only catalyzed out of the exhaust stream. Currently 2500 and 3500 trucks do not contain an SCR system that does this, only the HD series have them. The system is divided into three main parts; the diesel particulate filter (DPF), the exhaust gas recirculation system (EGR), and the exhaust aftertreatment system (active regeneration). There is no NOX filter, it doesn't exist. |
Why... :humm:

So what are the 3 cans on an 07.5-Cur Ram truck exhaust system??

Correct - there is no NOx filter on the 6.7L Cummins. NOx can only be removed by UREA injection (AD BLUE) or as similar to the Ford 6.7L S/D UREA injection.
The thing is, the NOx removal makes the truck run cooler, instead of hotter like all this other crap and it is a huge problem that Cummins is going to need to deal with, emmissions compliant now or not. Now, from what I understand to be correct, the Cummins 4500 and 5500 for 2011 will have NOx reduction through the form of UREA injection but since they aren't out yet I can not confirm that. Look at my discussion in the big trucks on UREA - it is a good thing for clean, modern diesels, gives a return to better mileage and doesn't get the enviro weenies all up-in-arms over some smoke. The smog police are out this way now and I will continue to run my oil burners but you need to make sure you don't track attention to yourself in the process. Cheers, |
