lift pump route 04.5

Hello, I just recently had a 06 motor installed on my 5.9 600. I drove for a couple of hrs and it dies, wait fifteen minutes and it starts and runs for a couple more hrs and dies. I suspected air in the lines at first, now I don't think so.The mechanic that installed the motor hooked it up through the old pump. I had the lift pump replaced a year ago, the shop that did the work, installed it in the fuel tank from it's original location. My question is.. Are the fuel lines from the relocation supposed to hook up to the original location or are they supposed to bypass the stock pump. If any body has a diagram of this route it would be greatly appreciated.:argh:

The in-tank pump should bypass the old pump, but since it was mounted on the fuel filter bowl, they made a replacement piece to accept the fuel lines but allow the pump to be removed...in other words it might look like the lines are still going to the same place, but the pump may have been removed.

That's just what I am seeing, just as you described !! Thanks STEVED. wHAT WOULD YOU GUESS IS THE REASON FOR THE STALLS? Sign of another lift pump getting ready to take a %^$@#@!@%^&^&^? You would think Dodge would put a fuel pressure gauge next to the trans temp gauge!!!!! Once again Thanks for the Help!!!!:jump::rocking::choochoo:

I wouldn't run one of these things without a fuel pressure gauge. Running for a couple hours doesn't sound like a fuel issue. Any codes set?

Almost sounds like a bad relay that controls the fuel pump.

Take a look for an external ice-cube relay that is in the fuel pump wiring, and then check the fuel pump relay in the PCM on the driver's fender...

Thanks, I will check these right away. It has now run for three day's, definitely not the pump. Thanks. Fuel gauge is on the way!!!

No relays. Instead, Chrysler decided to run something called a Total Integrated Power Module (built into the fuse panel). Get this, they want $780 for it. :ouch:

The couple retrofits I've seen had external fuses and relays in their harnesses.

And they still had fuel pump relays in 04.5...

I will need to see if it has relays. I Hope:humm: Holy Crap $ 780.00::ouch: Thanks I will know this in short time Thanks.
