p2146

I've got a '06 dodge with a p2146 logged and active. became active when the truck was under hard acceleration and going up a hill. My question is when this code is active does the e.c.m. cut out the front 3 cylinders until the code is cleared? The reason I ask is the voltage on the front 3 cylinders was .156 volts d.c. at the injector and also at the wiring connector at the valve cover gasket. any help would be greatly appreciated. the truck is stock no bombing yet:humm:

Remove the valve cover, unplug the injector harness for the front bank where it plugs in at the valve cover gasket/injector harness connector and remove the harness wires from the front three injectors. Using an ohm meter check across the terminals of each injector one at a time. Each injector should have a resistance of 0-1 ohm. If the resistance is higher than one ohm it will set this code, and that injector needs to be replaced. An injector is by far the most likely cause, followed by the valve cover gasket/injector harness.

Got the same code. Cleared it, and never came back. :humm:

does the injector ohm more than 1 at all times or is it intermittent? the reason i ask is # 1 ohmed at 2.1 for just an instant and then went back to under 1 ohm. the code has been cleared and it came back under the the same circumstance.

If I had a nickle for every time an electronic gremlin came and went... :w2:

How's it running? Any haze at idle?

bofinnley 08-28-2010 03:16 PM

no haze at idle just logs the p2146. then cuts the front 3 cylinders out. which is what i will assume as a limp mode?

wildbill 08-28-2010 08:39 PM

If you got an injector or injectors that run good, bad, good, bad---time to replace them unfortunately. :ouch:

NadirPoint 08-29-2010 08:43 AM

I would check the harness, plugs, etc. just to rule that out.

bofinnley 08-30-2010 07:04 AM

i have checked the wiring from the e.c.u. to the injector and all check good. i have not found and breaks or abrasions on the wires. so i will have to assume that it is the injectors?

NadirPoint 08-30-2010 09:15 AM

I doubt that woud be an "assumption" at this point.
