SeaFoam in a diesel

I know the bottle said it is for gas and diesel engines but has anyone used it in the diesel oil to clean it out ? I have used it in my cars oil and fuel system with good results and was wondering about using it in my truck. Also has anyone used it in their diesel fuel systems? Thanks for any input !

I would use it as a cleaner just before a oil change just to loosen things up so when you drain the old oil it flows much better taking some sludge and crap with it. As far as running it in your fuel, I would try to avoid it. Not sure what is in it but I'm betting it is some solvent based material which is hard on things. I have always had a hard time understanding diesel injector cleaners when you think of the psi that diesel in pushed through at. It shouldn't clog injectors but just blow through. Now gassers on the other hand don't have nearly the psi of fuel pressure. I guess in my opinion I wouldn't run it but I'm sure there are people that do and swear by it.

Ive used it in my oil on my truck about 500 before an oil change, I have also put it in my impala thru the oil, vaccum line and gas tank smoked like a freight train but idle was alot better afterwards. I havnt used it in my diesel injection system yet they suggest filling the fuel filter with seafoam when the engine is at op temp and then start and run it according to them its safe not sure tho

There are some guys that have had great results with it. I wouldn't be afraid to use it. If you go to the other diesel site, it was recently discussed.

i run it in my truck right before i change the oil... i put half bottle in the oil and half in the tank... but i always make sure im under 1/4 tank when i am doing the tank because i did it once with full tank and it didnt even smoke.. but with 1/4 tank there is noticable smoke tell you fill up...and i have over 554k miles on the rig now..

Thanks for the insight, thats how I use it in my car, pour it in a few hundred miles before I change the oil to loosen stuff up so it looks like I will do the same with my truck. The fuel system is a little sketchy to my just because this is my first diesel and
the more I read on stuff the more I get confused with all the additives and lubricators and stuff thats added to the fuel and didnt want to chance hurting the system.

i never had an issue with it in the fuel..

Thanks Storx and lookin at you sig you sure got plenty of miles on your ride! Just curious what do you do with the truck to have that many miles in 4 or 5 years?
