Trans cooler

My hoses are leaking:dang: So I was gonna replace them and ran across a larger cooler with hoses and connections for $60.00 It's an autozone compressor works 11X11X1 cooler. Anyone know if these are worth a damn???:humm:

I'd look into Hayden coolers. Get around a 28k cooler. I love my Hayden on my 96 dodge. Where are your hoses leaking exactly? If these 3rd gens are like my 2nd gen then you will have the hoses coming off the hard line yes? You can probly just take it off and take it to any hydrolic place and they can fix you up. Also take your new cooler with you and they can probly fix you up somthing to go to your new aux cooler. Do the 3rd gens have checkvalves in the rubber hoses like the 2nd gens do? I own a manual 3rd gen.

Trans cooler

Yea, It's leaking at the hard line/hose crimp. Dunno about the check valves. I have a Chilton manual but would prefer a Haynes. I'll look it up when I get a chance. I had a Haynes for my Dakota and it seemed to be more informative. The Chilton one says for ball joint replacement, "take to a mechanic". I was like, NO that's what I bought the book for:argh: Which manual do you have? What's pricing on the coolers you suggested and what's 28k? Thanks for the info Bro.

Trans cooler

When I say 28k I'm talking about the weight rating of the vehicle the cooler is designed for. Mine is I tube and fin style. Yes a stacked plate can be more efficient however a bit more costly. Something I also don't like about a stacked plate is should you get some trash in your lines from the trans coming apart inside the trash will hang easier than a tube and fin. However thus is not a factor if you have a filter inline out of your converter to the cooler. If you don't have a filter it's cool though. I highly recommend one though. You can change it when you change your oil and you can cut it open to inspect for things like the signs of a worn trans.
