silencer ring
ok i just sold my second gen cummins, gettin an 05 and was wondering if its the same process of removing the ring?
It is the same. A little tougher to reach, but it can be done.
it was easier on my 05 than my dads 99 just takes a little patience
yup saaame thing... i used a flathead and needlenose pliers and it poped right out
Can I ask a dumb question, what does removing the silencer ring do??
I have a 2006 Dodge, this is all new to me. |

I have a 2006 Dodge, this is all new to me. ---AutoMerged DoublePost--- i suppose it makes it a little bit louder even with stock air and exhaust |
removed mine when i had the stock air box and there was not much noise difference, but when i put on my s&B the turbo really whistles now
Ah, I have added a cold air intake to mine, but my buddy did it and we didnt remove any ring??? Should I do it?
its a choice you will have to make ....there is no performance perk to removing the ring but if you decide to just pop off the rubber tube going into the turbo and you will see a snap ring holding in another tapered metal ring about a inch thick. remove the snap ring with a flat screwdriver and needle-nose pliers and then put the tube back on the turbo and enjoy.

if you ever decide you dont like it you can always put it back in... its just as easy as takin it out
