Truck is at the dealer...

I can't complain. The truck has only been in to the dealer for warranty issues one other time, for a lift pump. I've recently developed a gnarly vibration in what seems to be one of the axles upon coming to a stop. Brakes are brand new, and everything was checked out by an independent shop, and they could not find anything out of place. The only thing they did not do was open up the diffs and see how they looked on the inside. I have a 7 yr 70k mile powertrain warranty, so hopefully if this is a major fix, all it will cost me is my $100 deductible. Service guy is already telling me to have reciepts ready to prove that I changed the diff fluid. I did change it about 20k miles ago, by myself, using Amsoil fluid... Hoping the purchase reciept is good enough for them....
Wish me luck.. Hopefully this dealer is not a pain in the rear.

I hope so too.. If I do, I'm not gonna bother.. I will yell and scream till I am blue in the face, then ultimately, pay them. They don't need to know that though. It's just not worth the fight over a grand or two, IMHO.

Remember that, told to me by the Dodge dealer i worked for back in the day, the 7/70 POWERTRAIN warranty stoppes at the flywheel/flexplate, anything after that was "Drivetrain"

But then again I have been told that powertrain is anything with a "fluid" circulating through it.

Benjamin,
Before I dropped off the truck, I asked the service advisor if differentials were covered under the 7yr 70k mile powertrain warranty, AND recorded his voice on my iphone saying that YES, differentials, driveshafts and motors are covered under the powertrain warranty.. Lets see how they react.

Have them save your amsoil! That stuff isn't cheap! It's probably just a u-joint!

yep Il bet its not the diffs, lets start a pool going

trust me, I hope you guys are right... I am HOPING it's only a u joint issue.. I don't see it being a diff.. This truck has towed maybe 3 times its entire life.. probably a total of about 400 miles total towing, in the 6 years I've owned it since new... The rest of the time, it just runs around empty, and is used as my winter vehicle, since it's 4wd. I guess we'll see what the dealer finds tomorrow.

Got a call from the dealer. Looks like it's gonna be covered. It was the rear driveshaft carrier bearing that went south. I do have to pay my deductible, but that was expected. Just glad it wasn't something worse! I will let ya'll know how it goes when I get the truck back, which should be today. I'll also get some pics of the new tires I just had put on yesterday!

Great!! Now go blow smoke!:jump:

Got the truck back, and it's good as new. For those of you interested in the new tires I just put on, check them out here:

Apparently, the carrier bearing on the rear driveshaft was only being held on by HALF of ONE rubber isolator. There are supposed to be 4 isolators to hold it all together :nope::nope:

Its all good, and its fixed. Just glad to have my truck back!
