Very Slow Coolant Leak
It took a couple months, but the reservoir went from full to add. I don't see any orange colored snow, heater works good, and the temp gauge holds steady at 190. So my head gasket isn't leaking, at least I hope not. So where could the coolant be going??
BTW, I do have an appointment next Tuesday to have the system pressure tested. I'm hoping it's something small, cheap, and easy to fix myself to save a 160 mile round trip. |
Pressure test it yourself with your air compressor! Turn it down to 5 psi and fabricate a hookup or buy the tester! But check this first! On the passenger side there is a coolant hose near the rear of the block connected to some steel lines. Check the hose clamps there!

can you smell coolant at times when you are around the truck? mine did the same thing and i couldnt figure out what it was but the leak slowly got worst until i realized it was the o-ring on the water pump slowly lettin go
|
I think mine is getting the leaky o ring because mine started to leak the other day
|
thats what happened to mine and then one day it started leaking real bad so i replaced it
|
My 06 leaked slowly and it WAS those pesky connectors underneath the exhaust manifold on the heat exchanger.
Most people who have leaks are amazed that they are not tight leaving the factory! I know 4 trucks that were that way - and dealers will try to change something expensive! |
