OBDII code

2005 Dodge Cummins with Banks six shooter/speedloader, super scoop, air horn, 5" exhaust.
Just started getting a code P0243 - wastegate pressure. Truck runs great. Banks controller shows boost and % of power as usual. Any answers about what would cause this code? Code returns after removing. Real cold here and truck sit for about 2 weeks. Thanks

have you tried clearing the code? if so does the code come back immediatly or does the truck have to run for a while first? maybe sounds like a vacuum issue, you hear any whistling or air leaking? :humm:

I clear the code and it comes back with minutes of re-starting. Can't hear any vacum leaks. My Banks controller gives me the boost and the % of power. They look the same as always. That seems strange if the wastegate is not working. Truck runs great. Thanks

That code is for the waste gate controller. The ECU is not liking the feedback it is getting from it. Usually that means it has stuck open and your boost is low. Since you are running in the cold and possibly icing conditions, you could have broken a wire on the harness also.

What are you making for boost when you get after it?

Boost runs about 5-6 down road and 20-23 when on the hammer going up-hill.
Thanks for the help

You should 30-32 psi on a manual gauge, at least 28 on an electronic gauge. With boost fooling it should be over 35 psi in those conditions.

I think your WG controller is TU. Look at the bottom of the turbo and you will see a rubber hose, crimp it shut with a pair of vice grips and see what that does for your boost.

this is why i was looking for a vacuum leak ^ i thought the hose might have cracked or something and it was causing the wg to not operate.

just checking the simple stuff first :tu:

The WG actuator takes boost to open it, if the hose cracked it would never open. With your boost numbers it is opening too soon.

crap was i saying vacuum? my bad i meant boost hahaha :ouch:

i was on the right track :argh:
