Tranny slipping...
k so my transmission is startin to slip pretty bad when i get on it around 25 to 30 mph. When the transmission does this is it the converter slippin or something in the transmission?
at those speeds i would think it's an issue with 3rd gear slipping because most converters don't reach lock up until about 40-45 mph. a little trick you can try: get it to slip again and just apply some slight pressure on the brake pedal. torque converter clutch systems are designed to unlock the very second the brake pedal is applied. if the slipping doesn't go away then you'll know it's not the TCC that's causing it. you have to make sure to keep your speed the same though so like i said, just enough pressure to send the unlock signal to the ecm.
i'm no tranny guy by any means. i guess it depends on how bad it is. you may be able to get by with an updated valve body. it would atleast give the trans a lilttle more apply pressure. but if it's bad enough you might just be
The converter won't lock at those speeds unless you manually select 2, other wise it won't lock up until 45 or 50 mph. try selecting 2 and get above 30 mph and see if it stll slips. A valvebody will increase line pressure but it will still slip somewhat.
when i put it 2 there is no slipping so far when i get on it.....
You could also try hooking up aloaded trailer and take it up to 60 mph and with the tranny locked try and accelerate. this will be a good indication if the converter is slipping. I tow a 14000 lb goose almost every day and my tranny doesn't slip when converter is locked. I have 106000 miles on it and a DP predator chip(100hp).
