07 with fuel pressure probs
We have a 2007 Dodge with a Cummins engine showing a P0148 Fuel Delivery Error code. The CP3 and intank pump have been changed with no results.
We have also replaced the pressure limiting valve on the fuel rail, as well as the pressure sensor, and the fuel control actuator(FCA) , all with no change. Tests for pump return, inj. return, and supply pump flow have all passed. No fuel leaks are present. Supply pump pressure at idle is 12psi and at speed is 8psi dropping to 5psi under full load. The fuel code will clear and then return during road testing. Also getting a P0542 High Voltage At The #1 Intake Heater Relay. Any help on Either problem would be helpful. Thanks |

Yeah what he said!:pca1:Throwing money at it never really works. When did it start doing it? Did you check and clean your battery connections Disconnect and load test each battery and then clean the connections. Are you still under warranty? Let the dealer have the headache! They have connections thru tech support!

well its not my truck it belongs to one of our costumers. its out of warranty and hes refuses to take it to a dealer. We didnt change the CP3 or the supply pump, someone else did. Batt terminals are clean and tight. :dang:

Most repair work the dealer does comes with a warranty.

This truck is out of warranty so I assume it has some performance stuff on it? Does it have a piggy back module on it like an Edge EZ, Quadzilla or the like? If so then those are pressure boxes which can sometimes fail. I know, as I have had two fail on me with similar results. If boxes are present then I would try to run without them for the time being to see if that takes care of the code. If no boxes are present then I would check the harness for bent pins in the connectors. The only time I've seen that code personally is from a failed lift pump or pressure relief valve. Have the injectors been changed for different ones recently? If they have then an injector tube might not be clocked right or not torqued down right causing a leak. How does the oil level look? Any fuel getting in the pan? This would indicate a leaking injector, tube or CP3 which either can cause the code.
The heater grid is a code that comes up when the batteries get too low. That and the fan code will usually come up with battery troubles. I would make sure the batteries are up to the task before moving any further or you'll chase your tail. Good luck. |
Update Three of the inj tubes were loose, it was out of warranty because of miles this truck has seen all of texas and then some. I learned today that one of the Injectors had been replaced at another shop.:tu:
