Literally stuck right now!!!
 

I am new to this but been around ag diesels for a while. I have an 05 cummins w/ nv5600 6-speed(reverse is right and forward) and I have just smoked my clutch. I have a KN air flow intake and an edge (juice) w attitude that has not been higher that #3 setting. Everyone said no higher since basically I have a stock truck. I am stuck on the highway right now w/ 75000 miles and I need a really good clutch. What am I looking for and what am gonna spend. I pull on occasion a 24000lb gvw 5th wheel trailer. What's good/ not good? Thanks for the help!

valair makes a ceramic button clutch that can handle 1000ftlbs of torque it comes with the flywheel clutch throw out bearing ect it is 946.00 i think also u will need the hd hydulic assembly it is 250.00 if you are going to install it than labor is free if a shop is going to do it labor will probably run 4to 500

valair and south bend have the dominating names in the market; both are a good clutch, valair is less expensive and will more than likely hold up to what you'll put it through. i've heard the valairs like to come apart durring competition but havent heard anything about daily driving, south bend clutch seems to be more robust; everyone has their preferences, your best bet is to call and tell them what you'll be doing with your truck; the manufacturer of all people should know which clutch will suffice; and when in doubt just bump it up a grade or something. other than that dont really know bud. this is all just from what i've read, good luck :U:

Awesome! Thanks for timely response. It is very much appreciated. If any one else has any info good or bad please join in. I'm just mad as hell cause I was even comming home empty and this just let go. No excessive egt's or boost or or warnings. It just laid down on me. Good news is more parts and better parts that are justified so I don't feel as bad getting them when ya need thm ya know..??

i have an 05 with a G56 i have used southbend for several truck i am currently running there DD single diaphragm. other than noise and reverse is a little rough sometimes. it will handle anything you could possibly put to it. and they have great customer service. and they now have a tripple disk.

a double disc clutch with about 3200 lb pressure plate would be perfect for you, you would never have to worry about it again

with a clutch that beefy wont he need the new hydraulic set-up to ease the pedal? i've heard they run around 250 bucks

he will have to upgrade his hydraulics even if he only does a single steel disc
