I messed up on my choice, BAD!

Well I should have bought the FASS pump with the filters but I listened to my friend and bought just the pump :booo:. My question is, is there a way to possibly trade my pump in for the one with filters and pay the extra couple hundred or am I just SOL? The pump itself has less than 600 miles on it. If I can't trade it in or anything I think I will just get an AirDog because they are cheaper and the attachment to the frame is easier than drilling holes for the FASS although it looks like a more difficult install with more cutting and drilling. What do you guys think? Thanks!

id just add filters. n.a.p.a. part # 4309 filter base and 3123 10 micron prefilter with the water drain. good size spin on filter.

use n.a.p.a. # 4770 filter base for your 2 micron 3526 spin on filter.

just what i'd do if i were you.

these are inexpensive especially with the filter sale going on this week.

tdiezel 10-04-2009 06:26 PM

Hmmm how does that work? Do you just connect it to the FASS somehow? Does it have the same principle as the FASS filter things?

stkdram55 10-04-2009 06:32 PM

you would splice the fuel line and add the filter bases where you cut the line

coyropin 10-04-2009 06:56 PM

i think there lost on what your saying you bought the ddp fass system right? any way you might asked the company you bought it from or put it up for sale there are a lot of people looking for lps:c:

tdiezel 10-04-2009 07:15 PM

I bought just the pump so I suppose its the ddp system. But I was wondering if they would just sell me the part that connects to the pump and then you can connect the filters.

coyropin 10-04-2009 07:35 PM

Sorry i forgot to ask yeah is the pump mount in the same place as the old lp, then you would need the whole new pump if it mounts where the old lp is. then you got the ddp and its olny good for like 30% better then stock the 95 and 150 comes with the filters

tdiezel 10-04-2009 08:18 PM

No its a FASS HPLP 150gal and its mounted to the frame back by the front of the truck bed. Its just the HPLP with no filters but can you add filters to the HPLP or do you have to order a whole new kit with the LP connected to the filters? Sorry for the confusion.:argh:

Go here Glacier Diesel Power - Product Detail and get everything you need just plug and play. You'll be fine. Keep your stock system for WIF and the heater.

You can't just add filters to the existing pump, you would have to swap for the correct configuration.

And why not?

Adding a filter and a seperator isnt the same thing as a FASS (ie, it doesnt get rid of the air in the fuel system) but IMO it has to be better than having no filters at all.

So what is the issue with just having the pump like you got, why was it a bad idea for you, they usually work just as good just dont have the filters.

You just answered your own question, and what the OP was asking.

He is asking if there is a difference between the HPLP and the FASS and can the FASS components just be added to the HPLP.

Just make sure you run a max of a 3 micron on your common rail trucks!
If you use your factory housing AFE makes a 2M filter.

staarma 10-05-2009 02:27 PM

The air separation is over rated in my opinion. Just needs a 2mu filter plumbed in line and forget it. Just as good if not better. I have a FASS HPFP and I made 607 on the last dyno run. It runs 19 PSI and drops about 1.5 under WOT and I'm on stock injectors and CP3 but my Rail pressure stays above 25k the whole run due to my FASS and my EZ pressure box. I've had the HPFP on there since about 7k and I have 51K on her now running 7 mu stock canister filters.

I would take my suggestion on the GDP 2mu kit and roll on.

Is this the one you're talking about? Fluid Filters Fuel Filters Dodge Trucks- 00-07 L6-5.9L (td) 44-FF003 - aFe Power Have you got any info on it where it says it's 2mu? Thanks.

mysterync 10-05-2009 02:38 PM

No thats a standard high flow filter. The High Efficency is a 3 or less Micron with a part number of 44-FF010 Fluid Filters Fuel Filters Dodge Trucks- 00-07 L6-5.9L (td) High Efficiency 44-FF010 - aFe Power

Dodge and Aftermarket vendors also offer a 3 Micron or less filter!

Thanks for the info. I've just been using the Fleetguard 7mu premiums. I'll have to give these a try.

Oky doky well the inline filter is an awesome idea and I suppose I don't need the air separation. I paid for the HPLP and it cost me $500 when I bought it (lookie they are cheaper now :argh:) and if I add an inline filter it will cost me another $120 so im looking at $620 total for the whole setup. That means for another $20 I could just buy the whole FASS and be set with both. My question is would it be cheaper for someone looking for a HPLP, not the one with the filters, and sell it to them and then just buy the FASS system with the filters for myself? The HPLP on my truck has less than 600 miles so its still brand new basically. I don't want an Airdog because they need a hole drilled in the tank. I just don't know what to do. Could someone explain the benefit of the air separation part of it and if its even worth worrying about? I will ask the dealers for a price to see what they can do as well. Thanks for all the insightful help!

Your not running big horse power so you will never notice it

tdiezel 10-06-2009 12:31 PM

I know but I plan to push at least 550 by next summer and eventually want to make 750-800hp so I don't want to have to buy a new system each time I hit a new hp level.

staarma 10-06-2009 04:14 PM

That 150 HPFP will do fine. At the most, get a big line kit for it instead of the 3/8 and you'll be set for your HP goals.
