Smile lowering my 03 2wd dually

I was wondering what you guys thought about ways to lower the rear end of my 03 2wd dually. The front is already lowered 4 inches and I want the rear to sit a little lower then it already does. I do not haul a lot, but do haul a few rock crawlers in the winter as well as a few boats in the summer. Other then that, not much towing at all.

What are some ways to go about doing this? shackles? bags? let me know what you have in mind!

Here is how it sits right now (the wheels are now gloss black):

Thanks for the help! I am trying to keep "cheap" in mind as well.

Shackles seems to be the best/cheapest way to lower the rear about 2-3". On my old 06 2wd I got some used ones off ebay for about $50.

if you used shackles to lower it when you lowered the front then you will have to put the stock shackles back on and do the flip kit in the rear. this should net you ~6 inches lower than stock and will level it out.....

I just cut the springs in the front for a quick/cheap way of doing it. In the rear, I want to do shackles but I am having a HARD time finding some? Can anyone show me where to look?

Thanks for the help!

Is the windshield tinted? You are running a huge ticket risk in that truck. In my old truck I had limo all around and got 2 tickets in 2 weeks. Not fun!

And I just realized who this was! I'm not sure if you remember me from (dodgeforum) my username was just "Austin". I still wish we were able to meet up in Tennassee(or Georgia, can't remember) a while back at the drag races! Next event around the lower US we should plan to go to!

Hey man,

yeah I quit using the dodgeforum after "one" of the mods god big headed and kicked me off for saying I didn't like what he thought I should do to one of my trucks..oh well.

Anyways, the front is 20% and the rest are 5% limo. I have owned the truck a while now, still no ticket...and being friends with certain "people" let three tickets go in my old 2002. I got two tickets and a few warnings in the last truck which had the same set up...not really too worried about it for now..and I like the way it looks.

We will for sure meet up for an event around man. I do remember speaking to you a few times about meeting up.

Thanks for all the help and input! If someone can direct me towards some shackles, it would help me out a ton

I just noticed that it has the headlights of the 06-09. Did you change that? otherwise it is not an 03.

DODGE RAM 1500 REAR 2" LOWERING KIT 05 06 07 08 SHACKLE:eBay Motors (item 370259336269 end time Oct-12-09 08:38:03 PDT)

It says 1500, I am not positive if it is the same for the 3500 trucks. I went and looked under my 2500 and the springs look about the same as my old 1500 but I don't have anything to compare it to. Hopefully somebody knows for sure

Also, it will kill your towing(but you have your other truck for that I figured) is just take out 2 springs and that should give you a good 2-3" drop.

I no longer have the 2002. Sold it to a buddy of mine in the army.

I do not tow much, but I do tow. I am thinking about getting overload bags to help out with the towing when I do tow.

I am not sure if I can use the 1500 shackles or not, if I can, GREAT!

My truck has a 2008 front end on it. It is a 2003 truck with the swap...but shhhhh...keep that on the DL haha

Dang thats weird thinking that you went from the lifted truck, to a lowered truck!

Hopefully somebody will chime in before this but I do have the original shackles at my house for the 06. Although I don't plan on going home for a couple more weeks. I would possibly try and go to a dodge dealership and see if they will let you "see" a shackle.
