Diagnostic Codes
Is there any way to pull codes from a 03 to 07 Cummins without a code reader?
|
Yes, cycle the key three times, leaving it in the on position. They should appear on the odometer. It has never worked for me, not sure why though.

A smarty programmer will work also. Doesn't matter if it's for a 2nd or 3rd gen. 2nd gen smarty will read codes on third gen and vice versa.

yeah the on off thing only worked once for me. Then it hasn't anymore... Not sure why
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- why can't a programmer for a diesel, like bullydog, read codes for gas cars and trucks? |
I THINK the smarty will. It just has a generic OBDII reader built in. Even the generic ones are cheap enough that everyone should have one.

The key flip thing has never worked for me on my 06. I bought a cheap code reader off Ebay for $40.

The key trick is all about timing...not to fast...not to slow...never let the truck try to turn over. If you don't get DONE or the code after three tries I always have to pull the key out wait and start over.
I've used it on my 06 so I know it works...it's just frustrating some times :argh: |
