what is this.??

when im cruisin 50+mph my whole truck shakes...it almost feels like a tire might be out of balance but it doesnt do it all the time..and it only does it in od...any ideas?

Buckshotmckee 10-17-2008 10:06 PM

Tranny time!

stkdram55 10-17-2008 10:24 PM

:argh::argh::argh::argh: yeah i would agree sounds like your tranny is slipping:argh::ouch::itsok:...o well now its time to make sure it doesnt happen again:choochoo:

04deezelram 10-18-2008 01:39 PM

Ya it could be your T/C

Diesel Dawgs Performance 10-19-2008 12:41 AM

Has your trans been running hot?

BIG_RED03 10-21-2008 08:54 PM

well i had gas buner that did that and its was my drive shaft u joints but i dont know whole lot thought id thro that out there

89silverbullet 10-22-2008 03:35 AM

I had that happen on the 89 and I balanced the tires. By some sort of elvin magic it stoped. I would balance before I bought a new T/C

t.k._04 10-23-2008 08:57 PM

I dont have a trans temp gauge but I think I have pretty much ruled out a tire out of balance....but im gonna take it in next monday to see bout the tranny, if it is i reckon it's time to build one..I knew it would juss be a matter of time.

CHECK YOUR U-JOINTS. ONE COULD BE LOOSE AND LOCKING INSIDE THE CAP SO YOU DONT HAVE IT ALL THE TIME...

Jesse James 02-05-2009 03:46 PM

drive shaft u joint

yeah check your u joints in your drive shaft I had to replace one, it didnt shake all the time at first but it did over time tell I changed it.

alignment!??!!?!?!?!

Death wobble? My '03 would only do it at high speed, usually i was in o.d. when it happened. Turned out my track bar bushing was worn out. $13 at NAPA fixed it right up

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

I thought it couldnt be death wobble since all my tie rods were good. Turns out the steering was tight, the entire axle was going left to right.

STROKER400 02-06-2009 02:46 PM

I have an 04.1/2 and mine did the same thing and it was my rear drive shaft. it was the u joint is was forz lol no movement. but that doesnt mean that is your problem. but thought i might add my opion. :c:

Also check your carrier for the drive shaft if the rubber is worn out it will bounce around. How many miles on it? This doesn't happen till well over 100k

johnnymotown421 02-12-2009 04:01 PM

x2 for the death wobble. Those 4 link front ends tend to chew up trac bar bushings. Off roading will only speed things up.

GRI 02-12-2009 08:16 PM

try putting it in 4wd drive and drive at 40-50. if it is worse then the tranny and rear drive shaft is pretty much eliminated.:U:

also if you suspect tires swap the fronts to the back and see if it changes.
