06 48re issue

I've got an 06 with the 48re and the guy that owned it before me had a built trans put in it, with goerend parts. I've got two issues with it at the moment, first is, it leaks trans fluid around the pan, not huge puddles but you can defiantly tell when I back out of the garage. It looks like it's leaking from the front of the trans pan on the passenger side, I've checked all the pan bolts and made sure they are torqued to spec, next is a park issue, when I put the truck in park it just wants to roll if I'm not on a level surface, so I set the parking brake if I'm not. But the guy that owned it before me had the same issue it looks like, because he gave me all the receipts and one of them was for the park rod, and it said the customer complaint was that the vehicle would move when in park, so my questions are is the park rod what's wrong with it now? And how hard is it to change one, and second why is my trans leaking? I have a picture of where it's leaking from. Thanks for the help!https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.die...dd778ea39b.jpg

For the park rod issue have you called goerend? They should take care of you, from what I hear they have the best customer service and parts. Did a shop do it or the prior owner? My guess is something is not right with the install.

for the pan leak I would replace the gasket, if it's the original gasket its been on/off 3 times now. It probably has a small area fluid is sneaking through.

when you drop the pan to do your park rod/gasket add a drain plug or buy a pan with one. It makes life so much easier for trans work!

I replaced the park rod myself it's fine now but I replaced the gasket and it's still leaking, even more than it was before I think. So I guess I'm gonna get a new deeper pan, what would you recommend the ats or mag tech?

Flip a coin- I replaced mine with an inexpensive B&D and been happy with it. Holds a couple extra quarts of fluid and has a drain plug.

Alright, thanks for the info, hopefully this will take care of it.

It's still leaking, looks like it might be coming from the trans dipstick, is there an o-ring or something inside the dipstick that might be bad?

I haven't had this happen- looks like a easy fix

I didn't replace the pan, because it looks like it's leaking out of where the dipstick tube goes into the trans. I'm guessing there's a seal in there? How hard is it to take the dipstick tube and seal out?

Its not to hard. There is bracket on the tube that is held in place with a transmission bolt. The bolt needs to come out so you can wiggle the tube out. Be warned fluid will likely pour out of it if its too full. So be sure its just not to full first. You need to check it with the truck running and in neutral while its up to temp. If its to full it can leak from this tube seal while turned off. Any trans shop in your area should have this seal for you. If not PM me, we have plenty.

I just serviced the trans and it took 7 quarts of fluid, but I bet at least half a quart has leaked out, so there's probably 6-6 1/2 quads in it, my pan isn't the factory one either I don't think. But I just ordered a oem seal and new dipstick tube, hopefully this will fix it, it almost looks like it's leaking through the gasket but I just replaced it when I serviced the trans, but I didn't use an oem gasket. If this doesn't do it I'm gonna get a new deep pan and an oem gasket and that should fix it if this doesn't.
