Transmission one engaging at all

So I am new but have been reading for sometime. Have owned my 03 dodge for about 3 years. Has 375k on the clock. Has been a great truck. Best vehicle I have ever owed. It has always ran a little rich. Stumbles every once and a while nothing too serious. Until a few weeks ago it stopped shifting, throttle responded but no go. Did some reading g here and on some other forms and put a gov. Silenoid in it. Shifting came back work fine for two weeks and then no shift again. Finally did the code thing and pulled code p2121. Apps. Did some reading had a good mechanic check the connections replace the apps and the speed sensor. All the things on timbos web site. Still no shift at all. Transmission is good as far as we can tell with out Taking it apart. Could use some help. Directions. Two cents. Kind of leaning towards a PCM or a transmission rebuild.

If it's a stock tran, with that many miles I would have rebuilt.

Transmission is built solid. Never had a bit of trouble out of it. Did a filter when we replaced the silenoid. No metal in pan no but fluid.

Burnt. Stupid auto correct :argh::ouch:

Its trans time brother. No doubt about it. Im surprised it went that long. I had to do mine at 171k. Get ready to dig deep into your pockets b/c its an expensive rebuild.

The truck has 375k not the transmission. It only has about 100k. Anyone know a reputable transmission shop in Vancouver wa.?

kingjoker 02-22-2016 02:21 PM

Thanks for the feed back. Guess I will just find a shop and hope for the best

Oh sorry, your inquiry was abit vague. first off, before you go any further, check all negative grounds and make sure they are clean. There are several ground connections in the engine bay and a couple under the truck near the trans. A bad ground will wreak havoc on electronics, and cause you some headaches. Make a habit of cleaning your grounds at least once per year.

kingjoker 02-22-2016 04:20 PM

Sorry for not being clear. I knew what I was saying:w2:
We checked and cleaned all the grounds we could find as well as the the conceptions. I think Iam at my end. I don't have a place at home to work on it yet and need to get it back on the road soon.

If ya go with a stock rebuild, its not so bad. But, if you want the VB, billet this, that, and the other, triple disc converter a such, it can get quite pricey. My stock trans went at just under 176k (just filed that receipt), but I also towed heavy and wasn't very nice to the trans. I probably would have gone longer.....probably. A stock rebuild would have run me $2,100ish. That's removal, rebuild, and installation. But I wanted much stronger, with VB, 3-disc converter, billet input shaft, other billet goodies etc, and it ran me $4,754. and change for removal, rebuild, installation.:pca1:

I wish I could do transmission work. It is way to expensive. It has the billet part in it. I am not entirely sure how many miles where on it and even if it is completely gone. Having a second opinion from RPM. Still holding out for better news but not holding my breath.

Bigg Redd 02-26-2016 01:46 PM

Yeah, I hear ya. Well good luck and let us know what you come up with.:c:

kingjoker 03-08-2016 07:12 PM

So I am getting the transmission rebuilt finally. Any opinions on a shift kit or no?

kingjoker 03-11-2016 05:14 PM

Trans all done. Complete rebuild 3500.00

Bigg Redd 03-12-2016 08:16 PM

Nice! Now go forth and burn rubber my little grasshopper.....:c:
