Default After market intake

I'm running an AEM Brute Force intake. I cleaned it today and when reinstalling was thinking about removing some plastics on the inner fender. Where the OEM intake was there's a 3x6 hole in the plastic inner fender it took air from. Seems like overkill! Anyone gut this area to let it breath better or will it not matter?

no need. you wont even get any gains replacing the stock intake until you hit around 500hp
