Help
Hi I am new to the diesel world my son wants to put a 66 mms chrome turbo on his 2003 Cummins 2500 with smarty tuner duel disk clutch. What other mods need to b done?

66mm is a big turbo! In my opinion 150 injectors, head stud set, good Fass/Airdog lift pump,Gauges to get started. Is this a daily driver, tow vehicle or pulling truck?

There are some guys on the forum much better than me to answer this Question. but I would think there is going to be some lag in spooling the turbo up. I think people usually run compound turbos when they get that big.

yes that turbo will have quite a bit of lag, guys do run them though. i wouldnt run a turbo that big unless it was in a compound set up. the lag will be even worse if its going in a manual. with the right injectors and a good udc or HP tunes it will decrease the lag time. i had a 63/65 and i hated the lag, didnt even keep it on the truck for a month.

Get a 62 or 63and you'll be happy! 66 great for wide open drags or pulling but if your actually using the truck to work don't do it!

Unfortunately we already have the 66 on the truck. Adding new head studs, 100 hp injectors, already has DD clutch, smarty tuner; do we need to upgrade anything else?

Does it happen to be a silverphat shaft turbo? They went to a 75 cm exducer which they claimed spooled better and eliminates some of the lag on the larger 66's .
