04.5 48re smoking and burning smell

Title pretty much says it all I have 04.5 with 48re with 160k on it about 5k miles ago changed gov solenoid and transducer about a month ago my tranny was stinking really bad I checked fluid and had to add about a quart, this morning it did it to me again I could see smoke at the front of my truck when I pulled over it was that same nasty burning smell coming from in between the bed and cab just wondering if anyone else has had this happe

Time for a trans dude.............
Mine did similar. It literally smoked 3rd gear. Had mine rebuilt with all kinds of billet stuff, plus triple disk ats converter and valve body. spent 4,100 bucks on it.....Ouch!:ouch: Now it freaking ROCKS! Its a hard reality.............

Ya I was pretty much thinking it was toast was hoping it was something simple I'm not too transmission savy especially an auto I'm thinking for the cost since my truck is paid off I'm gonna go for a g56 swap

It might be a loose band that jumped of its actuator stud from being out of adjustment and is getting caught/wedged on the drum...... but at 160K probably time for an overhaul/replacement anyway.

Having your auto rebuilt "the way you really want it" would be easier than a g56 conversion, plus a lot less down time. On the other hand, a manual would likely make it more fun to drive.........:humm: Decisions............
