Truck wont start. Is this the right forum?

Year of truck: 2007

Motor: 5.9L Cummins

Mods: None.

Anything you've done recently:
My truck was recently in a bad front end collision. During the collision it was running until it lost all the anti-freeze and then was shut down. (My (old) friend who I let borrow my truck was drunk and doesn't remember if he turned it off or it shut down on its own for protection. Anyways, it went to the body shop, the motor was removed to straighten the frame, motor was re-installed, completely new front end, looks brand new.

Problem: The truck will not start, no power to the key unless I have a charger on. I removed the batteries, charged and load tested, and they are fine. Reinstalled batteries, charged 100%, left overnight and dead in morning. I noticed that as soon as I connected the terminals my grid heater relay clicked on. I removed all the wires going to it and tried charging the batteries again. Same issue in the morning. Im not sure if this is part of the issue but as soon as I turn the key I hear the fuel pump running, which I'm sure its supposed too, right? I have an Edge Insight I previously used in the truck to read codes, it always worked fine, but now it gives me an error and is unable to read the codes. I tried a different cheaper code reader and it also gets an error when trying to retrieve the codes. I tried jumping the starter, there is power there but does not turn over. I'm wondering if there was some wires hooked up incorrectly upon re-assembling the front end? The truck has also sat for about 6 months. I changed the oil and filter, no filings or anything leading me to believe the motor is blown. Its full of coolant.

How is the truck primarily used:
Its just a work truck, daily driver, doesn't pull anything but I have a 450L Slip tank but that's it.

If you have any questions just ask. I really need my truck running. I have a shop and all the tools I need. Except any brand specific tools.

Thanks guys!

There is a big mess going on with your truck. Not one single thing will solve it. Start simple. Make sure the engine turns over. Bar the engine over with a breaker bar on the damper. Then ensure that the starter is working. If the starter is damaged it could cause a peristaltic draw, killing the battery over night. If the starter does not work. Change it! Take it step by step. Good luck. :jump:

Damper? whats that? I don't think it is the starter because of the grid heater issue I mentioned. As soon as I put the cables on the terminals the relay kicked. Is there an easy way to test my starter without removing it?

It turns over, but won't start, or it doesn't turn over period?

doesn't turn over what so-ever. I think the important issue here is that when I try to get codes, I get an error and no codes. Is my ECM toast? I am fairly sure this is some sort of electrical issue and not mechanical.

check all your battery connections. the grounds, cross over cable and the cable running to your starter.
